The Bike Shop History
Our History
Jorja, Tracey, Sara and Ryan in 2012 | Ryan, Travis, Pegi and Rex in 1978 |
Welcome to THE BIKE SHOP! The Bike Shop is a family owned and operated business established in 1978 by Rex and Pegi Cooper with their sons Ryan and Travis. After many years working for the Department of Defense doing metallurgical research, Rex wanted to own a business where he could spend more time with his family in a field that he loved. In 1978, Rex and Pegi purchased The Bike Shop, and along with their sons, Ryan and Travis, they served our community for the next 34 years! In 2012, Rex and Pegi retired. Upon their retirement, Ryan's wife Tracey, and their daughter's Jorja and Sara joined The Bike Shop team and carry on the family business! The Cooper's find joy in helping people discover their passion for cycling. Throughout the years the Coopers have helped generations of families select their child's first bicycle and help introduce riders to the extensive trail system our area has to offer. In addition, The Bike Shop has assisted athletes in achieving their goals, including Ironman Triathlons, National Championships, World Championships and the Olympics. In addition to working beside his father over the years, Ryan also worked in the medical field. His training helped engrave the realization that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, driving his passion for the bicycle industry. Ryan is certified in bicycle fitting, has learned the art of mechanics from his father, and loves the sport of cycling. With all the experience and training through the years, Ryan, Tracey, Jorja and Sara will assist you in finding the bicycle that is perfect for you. The Coopers have enjoyed serving the Redding community for more than 40 years and our 3rd generation is excited for the years to come. Visit The Bike Shop today and see why our enthusiasm for cycling, fun and fitness continues to grow. We've been helping our community ride bikes, have fun, and feel great since 1978! Fun Fact: Did You Know?: Ryan and Tracey met in the helmet section at The Bike Shop. |
